ABC News' Brian Ross reported that sales of 8 most popular Toyota's vehicle models have been postponed because of problems relating with pedals. This problem has caused the increasing of motor accidents in the recent.
The Toyota models include the 2009-2010 RAV4, 2009-2010 Corolla, 2009-2010 Matrix, 2005-2010 Avalon, 2010 Highlander, 2007-2010 Tundra, 2008-2010 Sequoia, and 2007-2010 Camry have been stopped selling across the country.
According to Bob Carter, Group Vice President and Toyota Division General Manager, to ensure customer's safety, this suspension is an essential thing. Toyota is trying its best to quickly fix this problem.
Moreover, Toyota has instructed five different factories in Texas, Kentucky, Indiana and Canada to stop producing such models.
Right after ABC News' investigative reports on Toyota motor models' trouble was on air, 2.3 million vehicles were recalled to repair.
In the interview with ABC News, safety expert Sean Kane shares that Toyota said the acceleration problem was been fixed with changes in gas pedals and 4.2 million vehicles which were supposed to have trouble in floor mats were recalled. However, recently, about 60 Toyota users have complained about their car's runaway. One day after Christmas, a 2008 Toyota transporting sped off the road, through a fence and landed upside down in a pond in Southlake, Texas, a suburb of Dallas killing four people. It was discovered that the car's floor mats were in the trunk of the car like what Toyota had advised customers.
Lt. Brown said that federal safety investigators are making every effort to find the cause for this trouble.
In November, Toyota executives stated that the change in design of the accelerator pedal and the recall of motors which have trouble in floor mats would repair problems.
Toyota executives did not absolutely agree with the reasons such as possible electronic problems or on-board computer glitches. However, the Toyota's firm disagreement have been shaken by the new cases of runaway Toyotas since the November recall.
